According to Time Warner's Q2 earnings report (via NeoGAF) this morning, fighting game Injustice 2 was the highest-grossing console game in Q2 2017.

For those that don't know, Injustice 2 is a fighting game and the sequel to 2013's Injustice: Gods Among Us. Developed by NetherRealm Studios and published by Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment, it released back in the middle of May (2017) for PS4 and Xbox One.

And if you've been following sales charts this doesn't come as a huge surprise. In the month of its release (May, arguably the biggest month for video game releases in Q2) it not only topped May’s PlayStation Store sales chart, it was also the best-selling game for the month in the United States at retail. Oh, and it was the best-selling game during May (at retail) in the UK as well: pulling of a rather rare trifecta of chart toppings.

All of that being said, it wasn't without some stiff competition, including Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, Prey, and fellow fighting game space rivals Tekken 7 and to a lesser extent, ARMS.

It's important to note that highest-grossing is referring to the amount of money made, which doesn't always translate to most copies sold.
