Injustice 2 released today amongst a flurry of fanfare and excitement. Optimism surrounding the game's story with Brainiac as well as the new featured characters have left fans foaming at the mouth to see their personal favorite added to the game. Well, it looks like characters from The Watchmen might make the cut for some DLC according to creator Ed Boon.

In a recent interview with Gamerant, Boon was asked if Watchmen characters would be featured via DLC. His response is sure to leave fans of the series excited:

“It’s not outside the realm of possibility at all. Unfortunately, there are still so many cool characters that we haven’t done that we’ll be getting a few of them done with DLC which will be cool. But inevitably someone is going to not make the cut.”

The Watchmen would fit right in with the theme of Injustice as it is just as dark. Fans worried about characters crossing over shouldn't be concerned, as both the original Injustice and Injustice 2 have featured Mortal Kombat characters as well.

If I had to guess, I'd say that Rorshach would be the pick from the series, with Doctor Manhattan being a close second.

The first set of three DLC characters has already been announced, and that includes Red Hood, Starfire and Sub-Zero. A total of nine DLC characters will be released for the game, with the identities of the remaining six being held under lock and key.

This isn't the first time we have heard about Watchmen characters being included with Injustice 2, as Boon himself tweeted out a feeler last November.

Injustice 2 is available starting today on Xbox One and PS4.
