Last night, developer NetherRealm Studios announced that Red Hood is set to be the first DLC character to join Injustice 2's roster on June 13th, aka next week.

As you may remember, back in May NetherRealm and publisher Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment announced that first three DLC characters for Injustice 2: Red Hood, Starfire, and Sub-Zero. At the time, it wasn't divulged in what order the characters would be released -- and we still don't know when Starfire and Mortal Kombat's Sub-Zero will hit -- but we do know Red Hood is hitting first.

In order to obtain Red Hood on June 13th, you will have to chalk over $20 for The Fighter Pack 1, which includes the above mentioned three fighters. However, if you purchased the Deluxe Edition  or Ultimate Edition of the game, you will automatically receive the characters as they release.

It's important to note that Red Hood will only release on June 13th for people who bought one of the above mentioned special editions or the Fighter Pack. A week later the character will hit for everyone and will be available as a stand-alone purchase at an unannounced price-point.

The following overview of Red Hood is provided by NetherRealm:

Jason Todd once served as Batman’s second protégé "Robin" before being brutally murdered by The Joker. Years later, the powerful healing waters of the Lazarus Pit brought Jason Todd back to life. However the power of the pit comes at a cost, and a change takes hold in Jason. He now uses mantle of the Red Hood to wage a lethal war on crime.

Red Hood first appeared in Detective Comics #168 in 1951. For those that don't know: he is an alias used by multiple characters and a criminal organization. Jason Todd is the most widely known version of the incarnation. However, the Jason Todd version didn't appear until Batman #635 in February 2005. In fact the character debuted as an alias of The Joker. The version of Red Hood in the game is notably Jason Todd.

Red Hood is described as an expert marksman, a skilled martial artists and hand-to-hand combatant, and someone who utilizes high-tech equipment and weapons.

Injustice 2 is available on PS4, PC, and Xbox One.
