Insomniac games has taken the time to provide some new details for their upcoming game Fuse. They confirmed that Fuse is formerly the game known as Overstrike. The game is a third person shooter that will feature support for four player coop.

The game’s story revolves around an energy source known as Fuse that has fallen into the hands of a terrorist organization, Raven, and it is up to Overstrike 9 to track and stop the group.

Each character has their own Fuse-powered weapon for players to use. Dalton Brooks is an ex-mercenary that uses a Mag-shield to provide cover and unleash a blast to stop enemies. Naya Deveraux can cloak to sneak behind enemies and shoot mini-black holes. Jacob Kimble can keep enemies away with the Arc Shot and shoot charged bolts that will chain from enemy to enemy. Last is Izzy Sinclair that can send out med beacons to heal teammates and fire a Shatter Gun that will crystallize and explode threats.

As players make use of Fuse and conventional weapons, points earned can be used to upgrade weapons and the abilities of characters. More points can be earned by working together for cooperative kills. The game is expected to have offline coop and fans of Ratchet & Clank will be happy to know the game is being written by T.J. Fixman, writer of Ratchet & Clank.

Gamers will have to wait a bit more for Overstrike as Insomniac plans on launching Fuse in March 2013.
