While the presumable death of the S.T.A.L.K.E.R. franchise made news about two weeks ago, it appears as if those early reports were actually wrong.  A tweet from @gscstalker, listed as the official Twitter account of the S.T.A.L.K.E.R., stated very clearly that the game is not cancelled.

Pretty good news if you're a fan of games being uncancelled.  Certainly a strange, but not necessarily bad week, with The Last Guardian also being reported as cancelled, only to have that rumor quickly overturned.

Now the promising S.T.A.L.K.E.R. series appears to be saved from a death that it doesn't deserve.

Of course, now it looks like I may have jumped the gun when I eulogized the series two weeks ago, when the death of the sequel seemed certain.  In spite of that, I still stand by my words.  The first game and its expansions were excellent, in spite of minor issues, and even by today's standards, still has some stunning ambiance and atmosphere. I am very happy to hear the new sequel still lives, and we will of course continue to keep an eye out for more news on S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2.
