Is Xbox Live being hacked?

There are two answers to this question. According to several reports on the internet, a lot of Xbox Live customers are saying their account have been hacked and made purchases with, and weirdly enough FIFA 12 or FIFA 11 seems to be involved somehow. Users report the game being played with their account.

Microsoft issued a statement to Ars Technica saying “We do not have any evidence the Xbox LIVE service has been compromised. We take the security of our service seriously and work on an ongoing basis to improve it against evolving threats. However, a limited number of members have contacted us regarding unauthorized access to their accounts by outside individuals. We are working with our impacted members directly to resolve any unauthorized changes to their accounts. As always, we highly recommend our members follow the Xbox LIVE Account Security guidance provided at www.xbox.com/security to protect your account.”

Well there you have it. This news comes soon after Sony reported that 93,000 accounts could have been compromised. Is there a security issue with FIFA 12, a game that broke sales records being theĀ  “fastest selling sports game ever” with over 3.2 million games sold and $186 million in retail revenue the first week. Hopefully not, because that could mean a lot of hacked accounts.

Isshak started gaming with the NES, and has owned almost every console since then. He was born in Togo, grew up in Benin, studied in the US and now goes to college in France! You don't get more international than that, and his weird cultural background is reflected in his favorite games, which range from Final Fantasy to Bit Trip Runner to Dead Space to Deus Ex!
