ESPN.com is reporting that His Airness himself – Michael Jordan – will be appearing on the cover of NBA 2K11 this fall. His total involvement in the project however is – up in the air (sorry about the bad joke!).

As all gamers know, Jordan has made rare appearances in previous basketball games over the years because of his licensing deals (as in you have to take a loan from God to pay him enough). This deal with 2K Sports will bring at least his image to the cover. There are rumors that he will be able to “help” players in recreating rivalries with the opposing teams from his days with the Bulls. Can you imagine play Mike as he drops 63 on the Celtics or against Isaiah Thomas and the Bad Boys from Detroit. I’m getting woozy…

More details are going to surface in the coming weeks, with a major announcement being scheduled around E3. I have a feeling that Jordan joining forces in any way with NBA 2K11 will be better than the Jordan vs. Bird game on the old NES.

How will this new generation of gamers respond to "Air" Jordan in the Kobe and King James era? Let me know what you think?
