Just Add Water Is Not Interested In Working With Nintendo

Although some developers are lauding Nintendo and its upcoming console, Oddworld series developer Just Add Water isn’t too keen on collaborating with The Big N. In an interview with Eurogamer’s Digital Foundry, company CEO Stewart Gilray says he has no interest working on the Wii U, 3DS or the company itself.

“Having developed a number of titles over the years for their various platforms, it’s become increasingly apparent that unless you are published by Nintendo you don’t tend to do very well,” he said.

He also points to a “crazy regard” to intellectual property that leaves it open to theft and goes on to say Just Add Water is focusing its efforts on iOS. Gilray says that with the Stranger’s Wrath HD port for PlayStation done, Munch’s Oddysee will be the next game in the series to get a re-release.

There are plenty of other tidbits in the interview to munch on, including Gilray’s desire to wrap up the Oddworld quintology a title focusing on Squeek and a Fangus project. The rest of the piece is primarily about the process of porting Stranger’s Wrath from the original Xbox build.

So, anyone else stoked to get back to Oddworld?
