Sometimes a sport is defined by the place it's played in. How different would Football be if it wasn't played in a 100 yard stadium? And how different are games played in nice warm climates versus cold, even snowy weather? What would Basketball be like if it was played outdoors?

Rare's art director Louise O'Connor seemed to keep some of these ideas in mind, building a dynamic world in Kinect Sports Rivals that changes depending on the time of day, and one that features gorgeous vistas and dangerous hazards that make competitions even more challenging.

Kinect Sports Rivals takes place on a large island, one that makes competitions more challenging the deeper players get in. Climbing competitions will get more challenging with increased winds; waveriding becomes harder with harsher waves; Tennis can be played hundreds of feet above ground, and more.

Check out the "World Environments" trailer below, narrated by O'Connor and Xbox Live's Larry "Major Nelson" Hryb, and check out more of our Kinect Sports Rivals news for a look at the previous trailer.
