Teruzane Utada, father and manager of Hikaru Utada, took to Twitter today to announce that the singer known in the West for her melodies on the Kingdom Hearts games will be returning to produce a song for the franchise's long-awaited sequel, Kingdom Hearts III.

When prompted by a follower on Twitter awaiting confirmation on whether or not Hikaru Utada will return, Teruzane Utada responded by saying that they'll do it. In fact, he mentioned that they've already started.

This long-awaited news is sure to delight long-invested fans of the series, as the iconic tunes of the first two (whole) numbered entries in the series have stuck with many to this day.

One of the franchise's newest entries, Kingdom Hearts HD 2.8 Final Chapter Prologue, releases next month on January 24th exclusively for PlayStation 4. The Kingdom Hearts 0.2: Birth by Sleep – A Fragmentary Passage portion of the title will take place chronologically before Kingdom Hearts III, giving fans a taste of what's to come in the undated future. Recently, screenshots of the game were shared on Famitsu, and a new trailer for it debuted earlier this month.
