January through March might just be three consecutive months of unrestrained fright if all of these Silent Hill titles make it out as promised. Konami today called to remind us that the survival horror franchise is planning a triple attack starting in 2012.

Probably the biggest piece of news is that the PlayStation Vita title, Silent Hill: Book of Memories, will support a multiplayer mode for the first time in the series' history. Players will utilize a pretty interesting game mechanic -- altering the contents of the game's titular book -- to move the story forward. Book of Memories is slated for a February release.

Silent Hill HD Collections, an anthology consisting of the first two games in the series, remastered for the PlayStation 3, hits stories Jan. 24 and Silent Hill: Downpour, the newest title in the series, is slated for a March release.

While the Resident Evil series is going through a bit of an identity crisis -- I don't know that it's exactly at crisis level, but Capcom sure has a few different ideas of where these games are going -- it's nice to see that there's a publisher keeping some sort of consistency in its horror titles.
