Kratos’ Axe from the New God of War Looks Absolutely Gruesome in Real Life

Kratos has always been good at smashing things, but in the new God of War, he comes with a new tool.

In the upcoming God of War for PS4, Kratos doesn’t just abandon the Greek setting for the cold lands of the North, but he also drops his usual weaponry for a gruesome war axe, and and the skilled team of blacksmiths at Man at Arms: Reforged set out to create exactly that.

The result is a massive weapon, that gives a very clear idea of just how lethal Kratos will be in the game.

Funnily, we also get a note of color. According to the master blacksmiths, the handle of the axe is not an historical design, but it’s simply inspired in shape by a modern fireman’s axe.

That’s not so surprising, as after all we’re talking about a game, and a bit of poetic license is certainly warranted to make things look cool. Kratos’ axe definitely does.

At the moment the game still doesn’t have a release date, or even a window, but you can check the video below and see if it makes the wait easier, or harder.
