XSEED has announced that The Last Story will be shipping to the Nintendo Wii in North America on August 14.

All initial launch copies include a soft cover art book that will be packed with the game in a custom box. Also fans who pre-order the game from Amazon.com, EB Games Canada, and Gamestop receive a soundtrack CD with seven tracks by Nobuo Uematsu, famed Final Fantasy composer.

The Last Story was developed by Hironobu Sakaguchi, creator of Final Fantasy, with his studio Mistwalker. The game focuses on a band of mercenaries and features a realtime battle system that makes use of cover, range attacks, and melee combat while introducing strategic elements such as giving party members commands on the fly.

Fans of the fantastic JRPGs from yesteryear will want to pre-order this title for the Nintendo Wii since it may be the last grand title for the system before the release of the Wii U this year.
