In today’s Plants vs. Zombies 2 “Behind the Brainz” video, we learn more about the brainstorming process behind the various zombie types in the game. The staff members also talk about some of the zombies you’ll have to face in the upcoming game and what their personal favorites are. Plants vs. Zombies 2: It’s About Time will be coming out for North America tomorrow for iOS.

Besides the developers at PopCap Games deciding on different zombie classes based on what would fit the balance of the game the best, they also asked each other what would be the silliest or goofiest idea to use, and then ran with it. An example is the “Chicken Wrangler Zombie” which is wrapped in barbed wire and and has chickens attached to it. This concept came from one of the developers’ childhood in which he was attacked by chickens several times.

One of the developers’ favorite zombie classes is the “Pirate Zombie” because it’s just shuffling along until it swings over directly in front of a plant and starts to eat them. He loves how surprising that sudden movement is for the player. You can check out the rest of the video below for some more inside info.
