Left 4 Dead 2 v Australia Round 3

on October 7, 2009 8:15 PM

Well, if anybody remembers the Australian ban on Left4 Dead 2, then they also remember that Valve has appealed the ruling and that was where things had dropped off. Well, it seems that Kotaku Australia got information on the current happenings in the debacle that is taking place in the land down under.

It seems like Gabe Newell is ready to make a compromise, but only as a last resort. This will be based on the review board’s October 22nd decision. If they lift the ban, then Australians will get the retail copy that we will be seeing; however, if the ban sticks, then Valve has an edited version of the game ready to bring for approval. The edited version has the changes that would need to be made in order to get a MA15+ rating in Australia. The move is a precautionary measure so that Left 4 Dead 2 can meet it’s November 22nd release date.

Newell was quoted as saying, “Our goal is not to ship this second version,” which shows wishful thinking on Valve’s part. I guess all we can do is wait until the 22nd, and hope for the best.
