Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker Headed to Wii U in High Definition

Unfortunately, Zelda fans looking for a new fix from the folks at Nintendo, will find themselves waiting a bit longer. Today, during Nintendo Direct, it was announced that while there is a brand new Zelda title in production, it won’t be ready for primetime in the immediate future. However, it should be noted that the new Zelda game hopes to remove the linearity that the series is known for and mix things up for a more varied experience; which from the sound of it seems pretty interesting.

But the news isn’t all bad as there is something on the back burner that could help fans make their wait a little bit easier.

What started as an E3 2011 tech demo for the Wii U, has become a full fledged re-make of the Gamecube classic, The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker. And it is a beauty. But don’t take my word for it, check out the Zelda segment from this morning’s Nintendo Direct feed below.
