New Mecha IP Megaton Musashi Announced by Level-5; Getting a JRPG Probably for PlayStation and 3DS

During Level-5’s Vision 2016 presentation a new cross-media project was announced, named Megaton Musashi. It will include an action JRPG, an Anime, a series of toys and more.

The story is set in a future where humanity lives in shelters, defending against alien invaders. A new super-robot formed by three components each piloted by a different hero will confront the threat. The theme is “Good old hot-blooded robot story + school drama.”

While no platform has been officially announced for the JRPG, the game was showcased on a 3DS and on another screen. Interestingly, that screen showcases PlayStation buttons, possibly indicating that the game will come to 3DS and at least one PlayStation platform. At the moment we don’t know if more versions are being considered.

The mechanics involve the use of trading card-like devices that initiate special attacks (and I swear, everything was going so well until they pulled out the trading cards, but you’ll get what I mean while watching the video).

Below you can see a few images and a concept anime trailer. The project is set to launch in Summer 2017.
