Level 5 At Work on Fantasy Life RPG

Level 5 is a great development studio which has produced some top-notch RPGs in past years, such as Dark Cloud and Rogue Galaxy.  Its no surprise they’ve got some more surprises up their collective sleeves.  They have a new RPG for the DS in the works called Fantasy Life.  A generic title, to be sure, but it perhaps describes the game fairly well.

Think Animal Crossing, in a way, when you consider what Fantasy Life is about – you create you character and go around meeting people, making friends and doing odd jobs.  There’s no main story, no too-huge-for-life, otherworldly boss to clobber.  Its like the whole game is made up of side-quests.

There’s a couple notable things about Fantasy Life, according to Kotaku.  First, the music is being composed by none other than Nobuo Uematsu himself.  Hooked yet?  No?  How about this – Level 5 is working with Brownie Brown, a development studio that helped produce the cult classic Mother 3.  For anyone who’s played anything in the Mother series (which includes Earthbound, as released here in North America), the screens below will look instantly familiar.  Take that as you will.

He's a huge fan of iconic games like Secret of Mana, Final Fantasy VI and Persona 4 yet enjoys the smaller niche titles, as well. In his spare time he enjoys experiencing new beer, new foods and keeping up with just about every sci-fi show on television. He's married to an intelligent, beautiful Southern Belle who keeps his life interesting with witty banter and spicy Cajun cooking.
