Lineage II’s Shiny New Expansion and Free-To-Play Model Go Live … Now!

on November 30, 2011 6:00 PM

Remember when we reported NCsoft’s MMO Lineage II would go free-to-play with a new expansion Nov. 30? Well, check your calendar, pal, because the time of reckoning is upon us. There’s also a new update, titled Goddess of Destruction, launching alongside the free-to-play model and includes plenty of new content for players of differing skill levels to explore.

Quick note: If you experience trouble logging on to the Lineage II server, it might be because of system maintenance happening in anticipation of the Goddess of Destruction update, the opening of a new server and NCsoft wrapping up an in-game event. That maintenance began about 12 hours ago and is speculated to end about now, so give it a few minutes and try again if it doesn’t work for you.

Do free-to-play models inspire you to check out games you wouldn’t otherwise? I ask since I’m getting ready to try Lineage II myself; I’m just waiting for this pesky media professions project to finish itself.
