Live-Action “The Legend of Zelda” Netflix Series Possibly in the Works

According to a new report from The Wall Street Journal, Netflix is in the early stages of development of a live-action The Legend of Zelda series. Nintendo is reportedly working closely with the streaming service.

Netflix is describing it as “Game of Thrones for a family audience,” which I assume is referring to the fantasy setting and inclusion of magic and sword fighting, and not so much the ultra violence, constant death, sex and incest.

At this point, Netflix is still looking for a writer for the series, which means its future is still unstable — it could very well be cancelled or enter “development hell” at any point in time.

Still, the idea is pretty interesting and a success means Zelda would most likely see an explosion in popularity.
