If you follow our Twitter or Facebook (and if you don't, you should), you probably know that I'm playing the hell out of Total War: Shogun 2. It should come as no surprise that I'm waiting for Rome II quite eagerly.

One of the biggest mystery related to the game involves the (supposedly) eight playable factions that will be included at release. After the reveal of the fairly obvious Rome and Carthage, today the developer sent out a press release featuring a slightly less obvious one: Macedon.

While we won't be able to play as Alexander (that was the protagonist of the second expansion of the original Rome: Total War), as the game starts when those days are long gone, the military organization of the faction will be pretty much the same as what the Great conqueror created with his hoplite reforms, focused on strong infantry supported by equally powerful cavalry.

Above you can see the first screenshot released about Macedon in the game, and you can read the full official wiki entry here.
