Nexon America’s multiplayer online fantasy game, Mabinogi, will be raising funds for Starlight Children’s Foundation through a year-long sale of an in-game item, the “Starlight Scepter,” starting today. Starlight Children’s Foundation has been helping seriously ill children and their families as they cope with their pain, fear and isolation through entertainment, education and family activites for more than 25 years. Mabinogi, which has more than a million registered users in North America, will donate 50 percent of the proceeds from the in-game sale of the Starlight Scepter, priced at approximately $4 to Starlight.
“Our players have shown great heart and spirit, and I expect that they will embrace Starlight’s mission without hesitation,” said Charles Park, Nexon America’s producer of Mabinogi. “It is important to our players, the game and to our company that we reach outside our business and support those in need. Starlight is a great cause, and we are humbled to be able to help.”
Nexon will also be donating 100 percent of its proceeds from the sale of the Mabinogi soundtrack on iTunes to Starlight. For every $0.99 download on iTunes, Starlight will receive $0.35.
“Our partnership with Mabinogi will introduce Starlight to a community of thousands of video game players and offer them an easy opportunity to support our mission while enjoying game play,” said Jenny Isaacson, VP of Brand Marketing and Communications with Starlight. “This virtual fund-raising effort promises to make a world of difference for the seriously ill children and families we serve. We are very grateful to Nexon and Mabinogi fans for their support.”
