Today Alvion released the first trailer and screenshots of the recently announced Malicious Fallen, that will serve as a sequel to the previous games of the Malicious series, Malicious and Malicious Rebirth.

The trailer showcases both gameplay and cutscenes, and will certainly prove familiar to those who have loved the older games on PS3 and PS Vita.

We get to see the new features of the Cloak of Cinders and quite a lot of action battle gameplay, that looks quite spiffy considering the scope of the project.

According to the data announced so far, the game is purely single player, and will be released in Japan exclusively for PS4 in early 2017. It won't get a physical release, but it'll launch only on the PlayStation Store.

The game's backstory is about the protagonist being summoned by the prophets as the slayer to fight the terrible Malicious, that is about to return. The prophets actually summoned someone else before, the "queen" and her henchmen, and the slayer must defeat them first to earn the power needed to defeat Malicious.

The slayer embodies the spirit of the player. His body glows with power and emanates a spiritual aura. Even if he has the form of a person, he is only a vessel.

The game's chapters can be played in any order, and each includes boss battles mixed up with plenty of enemies. The player can use his Cloak of Cinders as a weapon, including a large number of high-speed cloak actions. It can smoothly morph from attack modes to defense.

Players can freely run on walls and ceilings, making full use of jump and flying controls that span up to six levels. The game focuses on the concept of elevation.

The visual style is an evolution of the painterly art of the previous games, providing "more beautiful and refined graphics."

The new game on PS4 includes the previous chapters "Slayer" and "Rebirth," on top of a completely new one that will end the story, providing unprecedented boss battles that will far surpass those that came before.
