Today, Capcom announced that Marvel Vs. Capcom: Infinite will hit PS4, Xbox One, and PC on September 19, 2017. In addition to announcing the release date, Capcom also revealed eight new characters and the game's first story trailer.

The eight new character confirmations include five Marvel characters and three Capcom characters. The five Marvel characters include Ultron, Hulk, Hawkeye, Rocket Raccoon, and Thor. Meanwhile the three newly confirmed Capcom characters include Strider Hiryu (Strider), Chris Redfield (Resident Evil), and Chun-Li (Street Fighter). These characters  join the previously confirmed playable characters of Morrigan (Darkstalkers), Ryu (Street Fighter), Mega Man X, Captain America, Iron Man, and Captain America.

Two new stages also have been announced: Avengers Tower and Throne Room. You can view said stages, along with the new characters in the new screenshots at the bottom of the article.

As for the new trailer, we see Ultron aligning himself with Sigma from the Mega Man X series. Combining their powers, the two have brought the Capcom and Marvel universes together, and plan to unleash a cybernetic virus that will infect all organic life and allow the duo to seize control of both universes. As you would assume, the new cinematic story mode will explore this story arc.

Capcom accompanied the announcement with the following:

"For the first time in franchise history, the Marvel and Capcom universes collide in a visually stunning and immersive cinematic Story Mode, as heroes and villains battle together to save their merged worlds from a sinister new threat, Ultron Sigma. A combination of the robotic foes known as Ultron from the Marvel Universe and Sigma from the Capcom Universe, this psychotic villain is obsessed with infecting all organic life with a cybernetic virus. History's greatest gathering of warriors must now unite to fight back against Ultron Sigma and save their newly formed world."

Marvel Vs. Capcom: Infinite will cost $59.99 USD. Below, you can check out the new story trailer, as well as the above mentioned new screenshots, which not only show some new stages and characters, but show off a bit of gameplay:
