As you may know, Capcom announced Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite during PlayStation Experience 2016, revealing the game is coming late 2017 for the PS4, Xbox One, and PC.

Today, Capcom that the Marvel vs. Capcom series has sold over 7 million units to date, perhaps suggesting why the publisher/developer decided to bring it back despite reported licensing issues. It's not clear whether or not these numbers include the 1996 X-Men vs. Street Fighter, but if it does that mean the series has sold 7 million units across seven games, which is not a bad haul for a fighting game series.

Further figures for each installment were not divulged.

Capcom also announced during PlayStation Experience a stealth re-release of the 2011 Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3, which is currently available on the PlayStation Store (exclusive to PS4)  for $24.99 USD.
