Mass Effect Andromeda Gets More Info on Character Creation; “Softcore Space Porn” Statement Clarified

Mass Effect Andromeda will come with mature themes, but might not really include softcore porn, after all. On the other hand, character creation seems very rich.

BioWare’s massively anticipated RPG Mass Effect Andromeda is coming quickly, and the game’s developers are keeping up the consistent stream of information tidbits about it on Twitter.

Today we hear from General Manager Aaryn Flynn, Lead Designer Ian Frazier, and Producer Mike Gamble.

Frazier mentions that he has done “a lot of playtesting on Standard PS4, and “it’s great.” He also adds that “It’s not as good as on PS4 Pro, but still very good.”

We also learn that hair colors are pre-set, but there are lots of them available, while a color wheel will be available for “other things.” In addition to that, “sweet highlights” and colors like pink and green are possible for character hair. Incidentally, there also is an afro hairstyle option.

Unfortunately, glasses won’t be included among the character options, while body shape and height are also not customizable.

Moving on to gameplay, power combos can be pretty much ignored on normal difficulty if you don’t enjoy them, but doing would make things “very hard” on insanity difficulty settings.

Interestingly Flynn mentioned that being able to listen to some of the game’s soundtrack before launch is a “distinct possibility.”

If you’re worried about spoilers, multiplayer won’t reveal plot points, but it might runveil enemies before you get to encounter them in single player.

Last, but not least, Flynn clarified his “totally softcore space porn” mention from yesterday. He explained that the “totally” was meant to be sarcastic, and while the game includes mature themes, characters are brought to life “In a responsible way.”:

Mass Effect Andromeda releases on PS4, Xbox One and PC on March 21st in North America and on March 23rd in Europe.
