Today, developer BioWare released the fourth trailer (you can watch the first one here, the second here, and the third here) in its new Mass Effect: Andromeda’s gameplay series, focusing in on the games’ multiplayer.

For those that don't know, and as the trailer reveals, Mass Effect: Andromeda's contains of four players who join up together to survive escalating waves of enemies, complete a series of objectives, and then extract from the battlefield.

First you pick a character kit from a selection of 25 (a number which will grow post-launch). Among these, both species from the Andromeda and Milky Way galaxies will be represented. Further, each has specific abilities and skills suited for different playstyles.

From here you pick your loadout, and like the single player, multiplayer utilizes weapons from the Milky Way galaxy, the Helius Cluster, and Remnant weapons. Over 40 unique weapons will be available at launch, with more coming post-launch. Further, any character can use any weapon and you can modify and upgrade weapons to your liking. Boosters are another element of your loadout, granting additional attributes such as cryo ammo and increased shields.

At launch there will be five multiplayer maps, including Sandstorm which is shown off in the new trailer. The full list of maps include:

  • Fire Base Zero - An outpost built into an asteroid
  • Fire Base Icebreaker - A fueling Station on a frozen, ice covered planet
  • Fire Base Magma - A foundry set on a cooling lava river
  • Fire Base Derelict - An abandoned Ked ship
  • Fire Base Sandstorm - A Milky Way species outpost in a sprawling desert

All XP gained in each match can be used to upgrade your character and evolve existing and new abilities. All credits earned can be used to purchase weapons, characters, mods, and more.

You can also engage in multiplayer missions via Strike Teams, which can be launched from the single player. Here you send Apex Strike Teams on missions, which in turn grant you rewards in single player.

You can check all of this out and more in the trailer below.

Mass Effect: Andromeda is set to release for PS4, Xbox One, and PC on March 21, 2017 in North America, and worldwide on March 23rd.
