The 12th week of the 2017 UK Sales Charts are in, and unlike the 11th week, Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon Wildlands is no longer atop the charts, where it had been perched for the previous two weeks following the biggest Week 1 launch this year. Rather, EA and BioWare's Mass Effect: Andromeda is now top dog.

Mass Effect: Andromeda, which is the first time the Mass Effect series has released on PS4 and Xbox One, notably has given EA its first number one since week 48 of last year (FIFA 17).

As you may know, the original Mass Effect debuted on the Xbox 360 at number 12 on the All Formats Top 40 (Units) back in November of 2007. Since then, EA and BioWare have always debuted at number 1 with the series (Mass Effect 2 back in week 4 of 2010 and Mass Effect 3 back in week 10, 2012). Week 1 series highpoint still belongs to Mass Effect 3, which was the first game in the series to see all versions released in the same week. Meanwhile, Mass Effect: Andromeda had the 3rd best week 1 in the series, behind Mass Effect 2 and 3. However, it is worth noting that since the release of Mass Effect 3 digital sales have only increased for games, which in turn takes away from physical sales.

Mass Effect: Andromeda shows a sales unit split of 55% PS4, 41% Xbox One, and 4% on PC.

Elsewhere on the charts., Ubisoft's Ghost Recon Wildlands is now number two. Meanwhile, Warner Bros. LEGO Worlds slipped from number 2 to number 3, and Sony slipped from number 3 to number 4 with Horizon: Zero Dawn, the second biggest Week 1 launch this year. Rounding out the top 5 is Rockstar's GTA V, which fell one spot week-on-week.

Beyond Mass Effect: Andromeda, no other new releases managed to crack the Top 40.
