What's better for making money, release your games as a trilogy, or release them as a trilogy but leave out several DLCs so players have to buy them seperately? EA and BioWare seem to be taking the latter path. The Mass Effect Trilogy announced on BioWare's Website lists some DLC packs it includes, but several from Mass Effect 2 and 3 are noticeably missing.

  • On PC, Mass Effect will include Bring Down the Sky and Pinnacle Station on disk. For Mass Effect 2, Cerberus Network will be included which features Zaeed – The Price of Revenge, The Firewalker Pack, Cerberus Assault Gear, Arc Projector heavy weapon, and Normandy Crash site mission. For Mass Effect 3, Online Pass will be included granting players access to co-op multiplayer.
  • On Xbox 360, Bring Down the Sky and Pinnacle Station are not included with Mass Effect, however they are available as stand-alone downloads through Xbox LIVE. For Mass Effect 2, Cerberus Network will be included and Online Pass will be included for Mass Effect 3.
  • Information on PlayStation 3 DLC will be available soon.

Of course if you want the extra downloadable content they will be happy to sell them to you seperately, for a price. The good news in this of course is that you can now play the original Mass Effect on PlayStation 3. Information on PS3 DLC isn't available yet, hopefully it won't suffer the same sort of problems that has plagued Skyrim's DLC packs, preventing them from being released for PlayStation 3.

If for some reason you actually don't have all three games yet, shame on you. However you can redeem yourself by purchasing this pack for only sixty dollars, which all things considered isn't a bad deal. Whether or not you agree with EA's practices or the Mass Effect 3 endings, it's still one hell of a gaming trilogy and worth playing.
