Like every Friday, the Japanese firm Media Create released its top 50 and detailed analysis of last week’s local sales, and they included some interesting elements.
First of all, ReCore by Keiji Inafune’s Comcept and Armature Studios joins the handful of Xbox One games that actually managed to make the top 50 in Japan despite the console’s low installed base.
Microsoft’s console is now just past the second anniversary of its local launch, and managed to sell only 68,100 units , so anything that makes the top 50 brings home quite an impressive result.
The firm also notes that last week’s PS4 sales (96,433 units) were the highest the console ever had in a week if you exclude its launch week. The previous price cut, happened in October last year, managed to move only 46,177 units.
Persona 5‘s PS4 edition (which sold 264,793 units in its debut week) was also the biggest launch week for a PS4 title this year in Japan.
The firm mentions that, with the upcoming release of the PS4 Pro and top-tier titles like Final Fantasy XV coming, PS4 hardware is expected to further spread in the country by the end of the local holiday season, which normally extends to the beginning of January.
