Looks like Japanese gamers really want the upcoming limited edition Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes FOX Edition PS4.

Pre-orders for the custom console opened a little more than two hours ago (at 11 AM Japan time), and the sudden traffic on Sony's own web store was so intense that it put the system on its virtual knees.

At the moment, trying to purchase the console will bring up a message saying "Load is currently heavy, making it difficult to shop. We're really sorry for the inconvenience," as you can see in the first screencap below.

But things get worse when attempting to confirm one's purchase, that results in the following message (shown in the second screencap): "We're very sorry and we apologize for the inconvenience, but at the moment the purchase procedure is very crowded. For this reason, in order to let customers purchase smoothly, we have to limit the use of the cash register. Once again, we thank you for your patronage at a later time."

The problems have been going on for over two hours, and an ETA for a solution hasn't been provided at the moment of this writing.

It'll be quite interesting to see the Media Create charts on March the 26, as they'll show just how many PS4 units the new chapter of the Metal Gear Solid saga will manage to move.
