Metal Gear Franchise Turns Twenty-Five Today

on July 7, 2012 2:06 PM

Most people would consider a game successful if it gets a sequel, or perhaps legendary if it manages to span a decade with it’s releases. However, only the true classics can stand the test of time to be continued and played by multiple generations of fans. As of today, the Metal Gear franchise has spanned one quarter of a century, and sold over 30 million copies across several platforms and sequels.

The story is far from over as well, and we can expect to see the wonderfully eccentric Hideo Kojima to keep going after this year’s expected Metal Gear Solid:¬†Revengeance. Whether you know Solid Snake and family from the games, or even just all the internet parodies of him hiding under a box, there can be no doubt that this gaming titan has left it’s mark on the industry, and will continue to do so for the¬†foreseeable¬†future.
