The intergalactic bounty hunter Samus Aran is making her grand return next month with the long-awaited Metroid: Samus Returns, and if you're itching to jump back into the Varia Suit, you can check out plenty of new gameplay footage showing the title in action.

Nintendo of America released a new gameplay video featuring nearly 20 minutes of Metroid: Samus Returns in action from the Nintendo Minute team (along with a special guest from the Treehouse). Specifically, the gameplay footage highlights a new area from the game, while some of the new Metroid-themed amiibo (and their functionality in-game) is also shown during the course of the video.

Samus Returns was first revealed during E3 2017 and marks the long-awaited revival of the Metroid franchise since last year's Metroid Prime: Federation Force and the last proper installment of the series with the Wii's Metroid: Other MSamus Returns will be a "reimagining" of Metroid II: Return of Samus with completely new visuals and music, while iterating on the classic Metroid gameplay and feel for a new audience on 3DS.

For more on the upcoming title, you can check out our impressions of Metroid: Samus Returns from a preview event with Nintendo back in June, where we were able to get some hands-on time with the game. Coming from a fan of the series for quite some time, (so far) it's an encouraging return for a series that fans have asked for a return to for quite some time.

Metroid: Samus Returns will release for 3DS on September 15th, 2017 - for a closer look at the upcoming title in the meantime, you can check out the full gameplay video from Nintendo below:
