Lieutenant-Commander Worf, portrayed by Michael Dorn, was a Star Trek: The Next Generation main-cast member for its entire run from 1987 to 1994, and was a main-cast member on Star Trek: Deep Space Nine from the start of its fourth season in 1995, to its finale in 1999. Worf is one of the most popular characters in and out of Star Trek's canon, and the character most recently added to Star Trek Online, with Michael Dorn reprising the role for the first time in over ten years.

According to Star Trek Online's developers, Worf will essentially become the new face (and voice) of the Klingon faction, with Michael Dorn's voice to complement it. "We’ve added other voices to the early Klingon missions too, as well as adding VO to cut scenes for a more immersive experience for KDF players. Dorn even performed the welcome message for Klingon players, so his is now the first voice KDF characters will hear in the game," Cryptic explained on the Star Trek Online developer's blog, "The updates are planned to go live with this week’s maintenance, just in time for you to make a new character, play some missions to level up, and then take a side trip to Q’s Winter Wonderland."

New players will also be able to claim a starting Bird-of-Prey from the C-Store once the maintenance is complete.
