Today Microsoft Japan announced that the price of Xbox One consoles will be dropped by 5,000 yen in Japan starting on October 13th.

The new prices will be 29,980 yen plus taxes ($288) for the Master Chief Collection bundle and for the upcoming Battlefield 1 bundle which will launch on October 13th as well. Incidentally, the Battlefield franchise is quite popular in Japan, so the move appears to be well timed.

The 1 TB bundle with Tom Clancy's The Division will get a new price tag of 34,980 yen ($336). The new prices will extend to all Xbox One models sold in Japan, with the exclusion of those including a Kinect sensor.

In addition to this, the price drop will be cumulative with the limited time Xbox One sale that will last until December 31st, bringing the price of the 500 GB model further down to 22,759 yen ($219) plus taxes.

It's worth mentioning that the cut brings the official price of the Xbox One in Japan more or less in line with the rest of the world, considering that the Xbox One S still hasn't officially launched locally. The Battlefield 1 bundle will, in fact, come with a standard 500 GB Xbox One.
