Microsoft Game Studios’ Phil Spencer Named Head of Xbox Division

There are times in which a decision seems just perfect, and this is one of those times. Head of Microsoft Game Studios Phil Spencer has just been promoted to the helm of the whole Xbox Division.

In his first post as the captain of the Xbox ship, Spencer talked almost more like a gamer than like an executive, as we are used to:

Our mission is to build a world-class team, work hard to meet the high expectations of a passionate fan base, create the best games and entertainment and drive technical innovation. As we continue forward, this renewed focus and mission will be a foundational part of how I lead the Xbox program.

You will hear much more as we head into E3, but we are at the beginning of an incredible new chapter for Xbox and I can’t wait for the days and years ahead.  This is going to be fun.

If there’s one person that deserves to be at the helm of a console division, that’s probably Phil Spencer. It’s hard not to be excited to see where the new captain will steer the Xbox battleship.
