Microsoft Is Not Working on a New Perfect Dark; Ken Lobb Talks How They Could Bring Joanna Dark Back

on January 10, 2015 4:22 PM

A few days ago Phil Spencer mentioned that Microsoft could revisit Perfect Dark one day. Yet today, during an interview on The Inner Circle Podcast, Microsoft Game Studios Partner Creative Director Ken Lobb mentioned that we should hold our horses.

I can say today no one is working on a new Perfect Dark.

Yet, Lobb mentioned that Perfect Dark and Joanna Dark are discussed a lot within the team. According to Lobb another Perfect Dark Zero-like game in a world in which there are already Halo and Gears of War makes a little bit less sense than something more story-driven centered on Joanna, whether it’s third person stealth of something else like that.

Lobb added that at Microsoft they like they IP, and since it was set in 2020, “Maybe we’ll see another Joanna Dark game before 2020 […] that would be an interesting year to bring her back.”

While Lobb was joking, it’s nice to hear that the studio is still fond of the IP. While no one is working on it now, the future may still bring Joanna Dark back.
