As announced a few weeks back, Microsoft Japan held an "Xbox Girls' Party" (Xbox Joshikai) on Sunday at its main headquarters in Shinagawa, Tokyo.

The party was suggested by a fan via the "Ultimate Gaming Experience" initiative, and was built on the idea of the "Joshikai," which basically means "girls' party." It's a kind of ladies-only event that has become commonplace in Japan, prompting participants to have lunch or dinner, go shopping and enjoy activities together.

The party welcomed about fifty ladies selected randomly among those who applied via social media, providing games, prizes, swag and a lot of super-cute Xbox-themed sweets and snacks.

Interestingly, while the sweets and snacks were definitely on the girly side, many of the games playable at the event didn't really match the stereotypical view of Japanese ladies, and breaking that stereotype certainly appears to be one the purposes of the event.
