Microsoft Kicks Machinarium to the Curb, Comes Out on the Wii Instead

Wii owners will now be able to play this visually fascinating, generally loved loved game. With the help of XGen Studios, developer Amanita Design will be ported to the WiiWare. But why the Wii? Because Microsoft decided they didn’t like the game being available on the Mac and Linux, and thus won’t be appearing on XBLA anytime soon. Designer Jakub Dvorsky said,

“It means if we want to release the game on XBLA we must throw, probably, most of the profit out of the window — to the publisher. Just because we created Mac and Linux versions.”

Amanita Design has also submitted their point-and-click game to Sony in hopes of getting it onto the PSN. No other details have been announced, but with the game being $20 on PC, it can be expected to go to the Wii for about the same price.

Being a gamer since the age of 6 (thanks to my parents), a desire to pursue a career in the gaming industry has been my passion ever since I laid my hands on Sonic the Hedgehog. Some of my favorite games include Shadow of the Colossus, Okami, Duke Nukem 3D, Final Fantasy 6, Killer7 and both the Devil May Cry and Resident Evil series.
