This week, Microsoft has been celebrating one year of the Xbox One since its debut in November 2013, and aside from a number of goodies and special gifts available to Xbox One supporters throughout this week, the company has one special treat left to celebrate its console’s birthday: a trip to the Awesomepocalypse.

Over on Major Nelson’s blog, Microsoft announced that Xbox Live members will be able to download Sunset Overdrive¬†free for 24 hours, starting on Saturday, November 22nd at 12:01 ET (9:01pm PT). Downloading the game will allow players to play through the entire full game for a 24-hour period with all features intact, such as Achievements, saves, etc. – after the 24-hour period, users that wish to purchase the full game can pick right back up with their saves/Achievements from where they left off.

In addition to¬†Sunset Overdrive being available for free as part of the Xbox One first birthday celebration, Major Nelson’s post also detailed that developer Insomniac Games will be showing several new weapons that will be available in the game soon through a stream on the Xbox Twitch account on Monday, November 24th at 10am PT (1pm ET).

Sunset Overdrive is available now on Xbox One.
