Microsoft's Kinect Clears Ten Million Units Sold

We all knew that Kinect was selling well when it launched to great success in November. I don’t think that any of us anticipated quite how popular this thing would become though. Microsoft has announced that the motion gaming peripheral has sold more than ten million units. Astonishing.

They’ve also revealed that more than ten million Kinect titles have been sold, which seems pretty much like a given. At that rate, each Kinect owner owns at least one game. If you think these numbers are big, you’re absolutely right. The device has set the Guinness World Record for the fastest selling consumer electronics device.Gaming editor at GWR Gaz Deaves had this to say:

“The sales figures here speak for themselves,According to independent research, no other consumer electronics device sold faster within a 60-day time span, which is an incredible achievement considering the strength of the sector.”

Further, the sales numbersĀ  reached eight million units in its first two months on store shelves. Kinect has truly become a phenomenon, even though many gamers detest its controller-less interface and almost exclusively casual appeal. This is an undeniably amazing feat nonetheless.
