Minecraft Documentary Released, Taking Donations With Sweet Prizes

Does it seem like we talk about Minecraft a lot? That’s because for most of the staff here, myself most definitely included, Minecraft has become a part of our lives. I see the world in blocks sometimes. Awhile back we reported that a documentary about the creation of this strange indie sensation was being produced by 2P Productions. Well, that project seems to be done; sort of. It turns out this was actually a “proof of concept” project which itself is done and ready to view online.

2P Productions are taking pledges/donations however, and if enough is raised ($150,000 if you’re curious) before March 26th, a full length feature documentary will be produced. As of right now, 692 people have pledged a total of $31,684; not a bad start. There are varying awards depending on how much you pledge ranging from soundtracks or a Creeper wind-up toy, to an actual pick-axe and for the crazy (read; $10,000 donation) IMDB Producer film credit. Dang. All the details are on the KickStarter page for the film linked above.

John is what you might call something of a badass. When he's not writing about games or playing them, he's playing in the Kansas City band "Documentary" and drinking as many different beers as often as he can. He's a huge comic nerd in the best sense of the term, with a particular love for the Creator Owned movement.
