The tweet claims that the seven dollar block-building phenomenon made enough revenue to put it up to number three on the iOS App Store's top-grossing apps. The only games above it were the free-to-play Clash of Clans, and Candy Crush Saga.

It's likely that the stunning boost in sales is due in part to all of the new iOS devices (iPhone's, iPod's, iPad's) sold during the holidays and opened as of yesterday, but it's an impressive feat either way.

Minecraft has sold over 33 million copies across all platforms.
