Telltale Games and Mojang announced today that their popular Minecraft: Story Mode series will be continuing later this year with Minecraft: Story Mode - Season 2 on PC, Mac, PS4, Xbox One, Android, and iOS. Episode 1: Hero in Residence will kick off the new chapter of this adventure on July 11.

For those who don't know, Minecraft: Story Mode - Season 1 ran for eight episodes, which were released from October 2015 until September 2015. This new season will continue the story of Jesse, who was also the protagonist of the last season, over five brand new episodes. While players' choices from the first season will carry over, the developers still plan on making Season 2 still accessible to newcomers.

Since Jesse and co. defeated the Wither Storm in the previous, they have been regarded as heroes. Unfortunately, this new status gives more responsibilities, and causes everyone to start drifting apart. In Episode 1: Hero in Residence, Jesse gets his/her hand stuck in a gauntlet from an ancient underwater temple. This kicks off a new journey that includes both old friends and entirely new characters while retaining Telltale's classic tough choices.

Telltale's Crowd Play feature, which lets people work together to decide on dialogue choices that will change the direction of the story as long as they have mobile device with an online connection, will also return with Minecraft: Story Mode - Season 2.

Minecraft: Story Mode - Season 2 once again features voice work from Patton Oswald, Catherine Taber, Ashley Johnson, and Scott Porter, but will also have cameos from popular personalities from the Minecraft community like StampyCat and stacyplays. The developers plan on releasing more casting details as Season 2 nears release.

Telltale Games and Mojang also released five screenshots for Minecraft: Story Mode - Season 2 Episode 1: Hero in Residence, which you can check out below. The new season begins digitally on Android, iOS, Mac, PC, PS4, and Xbox One July 11, with a physical retail release coming this fall.
