Mirage: Arcane Warfare, Torn Banner Studios' successor to its popular multiplayer title Chivalry: Medieval Warfare, has had a tumultuous launch period. While the game had a successful beta, it struggled to maintain a substantial player base after it launched in May. Today, a glance at the game's servers showed me that the game is struggling to populate only a couple of lobbies, which is quite disappointing for game that is only a few months old.

That isn't to say Mirage: Arcane Warfare is a bad game; I actually found a lot to like in it, and highlighted its strong parts in my review. Torn Banner Studios is trying to expose this solid game to more people; that is why they announced today that Mirage: Arcane Warfare will temporarily be available for free tomorrow: September 6.

The game will be available for free for 24 hours starting tomorrow at 10am PT. If you add the game to your library during this time, you can keep it forever. After those 24 hours, the game will drop in price permanently from $29.99 to only $9.99. The Mirage: Arcane Warfare - Special Edition Upgrade, which gives players a free copy of Chivalry: Medieval Warfare, cosmetic and gear packs, the soundtrack, and digital paintings and wallpapers, will also be available as a $9.99 upgrade.

Fortunately, Torn Banner Studios also reassured its fans that the company is still doing fine, even after Mirage: Arcane Warfare's disappointing sales in the following statement:

Mirage launch sales were poor. That sucked, and we know it. Our company's doing fine, and we'll be able to continue to make awesome games in the future. More than anything, we're disappointed for the players who stuck by us and did buy Mirage - but who have struggled to find people to play against. We just want people to play the game we spent years making. We have faith that Mirage can find a larger audience still, so we’re being aggressive about getting it into people’s hands...Give it a shot while it’s free! We hope to see you on the battlefield soon.

So, if you've been curious about Mirage: Arcane Warfare, but haven't had the chance to check it out yet or were turned off due to its sales, tomorrow will mostly likely be a great time to jump in and see what the game is all about. You can also check out a previous gameplay trailer below to see the game in action. Mirage: Arcane Warfare is currently only available on PC.
