Nintendo’s Wii Fit U direct may have flown under the radar in light of other news, but this Direct did discuss some pretty interesting news concerning the game.

We find out that Wii Fit U will be available as a free download on November 1st. Players will have one month to play the game (which does require the Wii Balance Board) and if they decide to keep it, can do so with the purchase of a $20 Fit Meter. One this meter is synced with the game, players will have access to it forever.

The Fit Meter is a small device that looks like this:

It serves as an overall activity meter, as well as a pedometer. Wii Fit U will also be available at retail in a package beginning December 13th, and as a full game download through the eShop on February 1st, 2014. Watch the Nintendo Direct in the video posted below.
