Modern Warfare 2 Earns $550 Million in Five Days

Whoever thought that Modern Warfare 2 wouldn’t produce extravagant sales should probably beat themselves with a Wiffle ball bat continuously until they pass out. There was no doubt in many of our minds that Activision’s and Infinity Ward’s successor to the late Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare would, in fact, sell like hotcakes. To prove that it has, Activision has announced that, as per its internal estimates, Modern Warfare 2 has dished out $550 million in its first five days on the market. During its first 24 hourss, the game managed to sell a whopping $310 million, topping Rockstar’s Grand Theft Auto IV’s five day record sale by $50 million.

Like I said before, it shouldn’t be no surprise that the game sold this well considering how well its predecessor did (which was, in fact, one of the most played multiplatform titles for two consecutive years). If you haven’t gotten your hands on this baby yet, you need to. Joel and I are always looking to kick some ass (on the PlayStation 3 version). We might just be holding a little “Game with DualShockers” night pretty soon. So get your practice on.
