Looks like the Minecraft devs are looking to share their wealth with other studios, as today they’ve strongly hinted that they’re very interested in co-publishing other indies under their brand. Daniel Kaplan, business development director, stated, “The hardest thing for us right now is to say ‘no’ to all the deals we’re being offered. There are tonnes of opportunities out there for us right now. But we have to wait it out and figure out what’s the best thing for us to do.”
Ideally, Mojang hopes to have one such title out by fall, and not necessarily just on the PC either. “We’re always looking for new platforms, and consoles are very interesting for us, obviously. There are huge possibilities for us there,” Kaplan says.
Have to say, this is a brilliant direction for Mojang, as their name will give an instant boost to whatever games they may be publishing. Glad to see they have other ambitions besides riding Minecraft‘s tidal wave of success.
