Today Oasis Games reached out with a press release, confirming that the game will be released in the west, exclusively for PS4,

Considering that the film is the highest grossing movie in the history of China at its release, it's certainly quite an interesting IP to experience.

The game is an AAA-level production co-developed by Sony Interactive Entertainment Japan Studio and Chinese developer Hexa Drive, with Oasis Games acting as the publisher worldwide. At the moment, there is no release window.

Oasis Games Business Director Alen Wu accompanied the press release with a comment:

With the oversight of October Media for the project and the development prowess of Hexa Drive and Sony Interactive Entertainment Japan Asia, we have the perfect team to deliver an outstanding game for action fans.”

The Monkey King is a mythological figure very popular in Chinese literature. In the movie, he has been imprisoned by the gods for 500 years. When a child releases him from his curse, the Monkey King will attempt to protect his village from the Mountain Lord and his army of monsters.

In the game players will be able to play as Monkey King himself or the young monk in training, Jiang Lieur. It will include both the story of the film and new levels unique to the game.
