Remember Legend of Lumina? Well, if you don't, all you need to know was that it was a promising looking JRPG with monster raising, farming, and adventuring that was announced and appeared on Square Enix Collective back during August of last year.

Then, a few months later in October, developer Magnus Games announced that due to some legal issues with an ex-investor, Legend of Lumina had been cancelled, and because the investor owned the rights to the game, Magnus Games could not claim ownership or commercialize and so it had to move on to a new project.

Today, it revealed that new project: Re:Legend, which also happens to be a JRPG with monster raising, farming, and adventuring. Further, the developer has once again taken its game to Square Enix Collective, where it is now live.

Washed ashore on Vokka Island without any memories, you must start a new life and find ways to recover your said memories. However, you must also learn to survive the island which you have washed up on by cultivating the land, befriending villagers, expanding the village, and by raising your very own magical creature known as "Magnus."

A description of the game continues:

Venture around the land of Ethia where Vokka island resides to reclaim your memories, but this is no easy task as the world is filled with dangerous Magnus and threatening challenges.

Will you be able to survive and rebuild your own Legend in your new life? Your fate is in your hand!"

Re: Legend is said to be heavily inspired by games such as Digimon World, Rune Factory, Fantasy Life, and Monster Rancher.

According to the game's Square Enix Collective page, Re:Legend revolves around taming and raising Magnus. There are plenty to tame, each with a unique set of abilities to aid you in battle. All Magnus also produce goods, while some also prove quite handy on the farm.

Speaking of the farm, while raising Magnuses is the central point of the game, farming plays a huge role as well. You can own several plots of land, which can be used to grow crops throughout the seasons. Farming is not limited to land, rather the environment of Vokka Island allows you to grow crops and keep exotic fishes underwater.

Crops can be sold for gold like other activities such as mining, fishing, logging, or collecting resources from tamed Magnuses. You can purchase or craft upgrades for your house, barn, weapons, and tools.

Lastly -- but not least -- there are many recruitable villagers around the world that are crucial to Vokka Island's expansion. You can recruit said villagers, and befriend them by interacting with them how you chose, or by giving them items they like. It is said you can marry a villager if the relationship level if high enough.

Vokka Island is described as a "peaceful and relaxing place," however, the outside world is not. There are seven different regions around Vokka Island, each with a dangerous environment filled with wild and unique Magnuses.

Re:Legend can be played alone, or with up to four players. It's currently unclear if the game contains local multiplayer or online multiplayer or both.

As you may have noticed the game is being published by Square Enix Collective. For those that don’t know: Square Enix Collective is a curated platform that has been created to act as a service provider to independent developers, either through helping build a community, helping to raise funds via Kickstarter, or with support for releasing games.

Developers who work with SEC always retain the IP and creative control. Every week SEC posts a new pitch to its website from a developer somewhere around the world. Beyond eyeballs and support, these teams are said to be looking for feedback on what works, what doesn’t, and on whether or not the game should pursue a Kickstarter. SEC specifically uses the feedback and votes as a guide to which projects it wants to support.
